MEET THE FARMER: Jon

To Jon, the act of pruning coffee plants is nerve-racking.Snipping off pieces of these beautiful trees seems wasteful. The plants support his way of life, and as a man teetering on the edge of poverty, he can’t afford to lose any amount of income.But Kingdom Growers has taught him to prune. Agricultural trainers say it makes the plants healthier and will produce better coffee. And so he snips. He spends days under a hot sun, taking a knife to each of his precious plants. Branches fall to his feet.It takes a certain amount of bravery to prune a coffee tree for the first time. Jon doesn’t know if this will work. He just simply has to trust the Kingdom Growers Cooperative. He’s placing his family’s survival in the trainers’ hands.Pray for farmers like Jon. Pray they will form strong relationships with Kingdom Growers’ agricultural trainers—relationships based on trust. Through these bonds, farmers will learn how to grow better and more profitable coffee. And, they will hear about the One who makes the plants grow.
