Church Spotlight: Providence Church in Plano, Texas

provcoffee-instaProvidence Church in Plano, Texas, is serious about its coffee. When someone donated a restaurant-grade coffee grinder to the church, members would only use it for excellent beans. So, they went looking for coffee worthy of the gift. And they found us.“We embarked on finding not only a quality bean, but a company we could get behind,” Pastor Eric Gunny Hartman explains. “By God's grace, we stumbled upon Kingdom Growers. We've been serving KG coffee exclusively since we first learned of it and tried it in June 2015."A smaller church, Providence accommodates an average attendance of 100 people each Sunday, but members still consume eight to 10 pots of coffee each week. They love it. Pastor Hartman says they serve Kingdom Growers before and after Sunday School sessions and during Sunday night services, Wednesday evening services, fellowship meals and elder meals. Sometimes, the men of the church take our coffee along on camping retreats and sip some around their fires. They care a great deal about their caffeine.provfire-insta“We grind our whole beans just before each pot is brewed, using filtered water, and we drink from the air pot, which keeps it hot without cooking it,” the pastor says. “All that makes for a very tasty cup.”But, the church has chosen to serve our products for reasons other than the delicious taste. Pastor Hartman says his members also love that Kingdom Growers Cooperative helps develop agricultural communities while sharing the Gospel with farmers. That combination has earned the church’s loyalty.“It's not easy to find a flavor with mass appeal, but it's even harder to find a company without negatives,” he says. “Beyond that, we were excited to find in Kingdom Growers a company with the same heart for missions that we have. That was a huge positive and the flavor is top notch. It's a win-win-win.”If you would like to start serving Kingdom Growers in your own church, we can help! Visit our Church Coffee Programs page to get tips.
