img_3339“What brings me the most pride is … the feeling that somewhere, someone in the States is drinking coffee that hasn’t been mixed with the coffees of other farmers … but somebody is enjoying a cup of coffee that comes straight from my farm.” –Edgar SanchezEdgar Sanchez comes from a family of coffee farmers. He grew up helping his father harvest the beans on the side of the El Peñón Mountain in Honduras. He understands the farming community and its needs. When he heard about a cooperative that not only gives coffee growers access to better markets but also shares the Gospel in farming villages—this soft-spoken Christian felt called.Edgar has worked with Kingdom Growers Cooperative for five years now. He’s become an agricultural trainer and a missionary who serves the coffee community he knows well. He has helped other farmers harvest crops and has helped care for them during times of economic hardship. He has told them about his God. Edgar has helped meet their needs, both physically and spiritually.And now, you can taste the fruits of this man’s hard and careful work in Honduras. Edgar is the first farmer to produce a coffee micro-lot for Kingdom Growers. Coffee lovers around the world can buy coffee grown solely on his farm. He says the new opportunity has created some extra work for him, but it gives his family added income that he can reinvest into his farm.The micro-lot also gives Edgar a financial boost so he can continue working with the cooperative and demonstrating Christ’s infinite love to others.
